Singtel this week announced the appointment of Mr Dominic Barton as an independent director of the Board with immediate effect. Mr Barton has been Chair of the Board of Canadian mining company Teck Resources since 1 October 2018.
“Dominic brings rich expertise and insights from across a broad swathe of industries, having advised clients in banking, consumer goods, tech and industrials over three decades of consulting. The diversity of his experience will be invaluable as Singtel’s digital transformation takes the Group into businesses and partnerships that cut across multiple industries. I’m delighted to welcome Dominic to the Singtel board,” said Singtel’s Chairman Mr Simon Israel.
A McKinsey & Company veteran, Mr Barton was Global Managing Partner of McKinsey until July 2018, a role he held for nine years. He is currently Global Managing Partner Emeritus. Before becoming managing partner, Dominic served as McKinsey’s chairman in Asia from 2004 to 2009. He also headed McKinsey’s office in Korea from 2000 to 2004.
Mr Barton is the Chancellor of the University of Waterloo, the chairman of the International Integrated Reporting Council, Canadian Minister of Finance’s Advisory Council on Economic Growth and the Seoul International Business Advisory Council. He is also a trustee of the Brookings Institution, a founding member of non-profit organisation FCLT Global (Focusing Capital on the Long Term), a member of the Singapore Economic Development Board’s International Advisory Council, and a member of the boards of Memorial Sloan Kettering in New York City and the Asia Pacific Foundation of Canada.
Among the many accolades Mr Barton has received are the INSEAD Business Leader for the World Award in 2011, the Korean Order of Civil Merit (Peony Medal) in 2013 and the Singaporean Public Service Star in 2014.

Security Architect with a focus into Cloud (AWS, Azure or Google Cloud Platform) needed. You must have client facing consultancy experience. This mean you must have experience working with clients helping them to meet their security design needs. That could include working with existing internal teams to understand, review and mitigate / uplift existing Cloud Security designs, or perhaps helping clients set out / understand their current needs and deliver their cloud security strategy. (Or anything in between) Technical knowledge is of course essential but working with clients to understand and solve their Cloud Security design challenges is vital.
