Vodafone’s Brian Fitzpatrick steps down as CEO of VCS

Brian Fitzpatrick has stepped down as CEO of Vodafone international wholesale division, Vodafone Carrier Services.

A Vodafone Business spokesperson told Capacity: “Brian Fitzpatrick has been a valued member of the Vodafone Business leadership team for the past seven years. The success of Vodafone Carrier Services is thanks to his vision and drive and he has delivered some outstanding achievements. We wish him all the best for his move back to his home in North America.”

Though no exact details have been given about what Fitzpatrick’s next moves will be it is expected that after a necessary cooling period, he will take on his next venture as no indication of retirement has been made.

Fitzpatrick entered the role back in 2013 following Vodafone’s $1 billion acquisition of Cable & Wireless Worldwide (CWW). Announced during ITW 2013, the new company combined Vodafone’s traditional services and CWW’s fixed division into one integrated carrier business.

In his first interview with Capacity Media, Fitzpatrick said “We are a substantial startup carrier organisation that can bring a tremendous amount of quality and value to the carrier marketplace."

Since then the company has gone on to be named winner of Best SMS/A2P Provider – Global at the 2018, Messaging and SMS Awards. As well as forging a number of strategic partnerships including one with Sparkle back in 2016 to directly connect their respective SMS messaging hubs.

Fitzpatrick himself was named executive of the year - leadership at the 2014 Global Carrier Awards.
